Hulu Plus gets ‘Seinfeld’

Variety reports that Hulu has just secured the exclusive SVOD (streaming video on demand) rights to Seinfeld.

The deal will give Hulu all 180 episodes of the hit sitcom. The exact purchase price was not disclosed but according to Variety, “deal is said to be valued at around $875,000 an episode.” The series will be available to Hulu Plus customers starting in June.

Along with the recent acquisition of more than 300 episodes of the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, it shows that Hulu is serious about competing with heavyweights Netflix and Amazon Prime.
